TCM Inauguration May 7

On May 7, the Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg will conduct the official inauguration of TCM at Mongstad. More than 250 prominent guests from the whole world will attend the opening.

“The launch of the world’s largest facility for testing and developing carbon capture technologies is an important milestone for all parties involved in the efforts towards a low carbon future. We want to make this a very memorable event, and are happy to see that so many prominent officials and guests have set apart the day to celebrate with us”, says Managing Director Tore Amundsen in TCM.

EUs Commissioner of Energy Günther Oettinger will also participate in the inauguration event starting at 2 pm at Mongstad.

The inauguration ceremony will be followed by a panel discussion hosted the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Ola Borten Moe, and co-paneled by Statoils CEO Helge Lund, Head of IEA Maria van der Hoeven and Global CCS Institute’s CEO Brad Page.

Afterwards there will be guided tours of the TCM facilities. An inauguration dinner is to be held at the Håkonshallen in Bergen at night.

Among all the prominent guests, there will be more than 100 from Global CCS Institute, and IEA GHG (IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D programme), representing major parts of the global CCS community.

On May 8 there will be a CCS Seminar in Bergen, organized by Gassnova SF, Global CCS Institute and IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D programme. 

Also on Tuesday 8 May Global CCS Institute will hold its European members meeting (open to observers) in Bergen, followed by a members meeting on IEAGHG during 9 – 10 May.
